I bet 9 out of 10 people buy a 1-ton based on being loyal to Chevy or Ram/Dodge or Ford or because of creature comforts in the cab layout. These tests are only a way for some people to feel vindicated with what they bought and for others to dig in their heels and defend having bought something else.
For towing I care mostly about the ride and handling/safety, and how well the engine, trans, exhaust brake with diesel, all work together along with the trailer's brakes going down steep grades. I may spend a small percentage of my time going down steep grades with a load but when I do I am very grateful for the capabilities of my truck's very well integrated system for controlling the speed with minimal braking required.
