Good to see that all three were as close as they were and their was something good to be said about all three of them....kinda cool:)
I was thinking the same Jim I am old so maybe you are catching me.
chevman - waynec1957ExplorerPersonally... I think this discussion proves what we all already know. Most people, with a few exceptions, drive what they like. The only Ford I've ever owned was an old Econoline van. Ford's are just not my thing. I don't like the way the new trucks look and their noisier than they have to be.
I had a 94' 1500 Dodge Ram. Bought it because (1) the GM dealer PO'ed me the day I went to buy a new truck and I liked the new Dodge body style. But it had a HUGE blind spot on the passenger side windshield post, it never rode as good as my GM trucks, and the transmission went out of it at less than 10k miles. On the new ones, the tow mirrors coming at you remind me of Bullwinkle moose. And Rams are also noisier than they have to be.
Other than those things, I wouldn't be afraid to hook up with anyone of them and do what this test did. Performance wise, there's not a nickel's difference between the three. The rest of it, IMHO, is brand loyalty and personal preference. - Cummins12V98Explorer IIII thought this was interesting.
"At the end of our empirical tests, the Ram HD was within 100 points of the GMC; however, after our experts weighed in with their favorite features and pickup characteristics, the Ram was even closer. One of the most polarizing aspects of the Ram is its Cummins engine and all-new Aisin transmission in that it shifts, sounds and distributes power like its big-rig cousins. In fact, it seems as though Ram engineers have made sure the software programs don't allow too much of the B-motor's torque to get to the rear axle too fast. But once it got moving, it was never far behind the Ford or GMC, as evidenced by the Davis Dam and Eisenhower wide-open-throttle grade runs." - YnotTurboExplorerThat was a good test and great data. I think we all know it comes down to what you really like to drive.

What i like GM and Ford throw there BEST and NEWEST trucks in there and Ram still takes 2nd with a old 2014.
The GM powertrain has been the same since 2011. Only has a new skin for 2015. So in reality the GM powertrain is the oldest of the bunch and still holding its own. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer

How much did the different transmission ratios help GM?
Where would they each be if they put their best performer out there? Example RAM's 4:10 VS 3:73?
Why not show the best of what they each offer?
Because then someone would whine, piss and moan when their truck would get a lot less fuel mileage. They would then say, " well ya the x brand truck gets poor mileage; it's because they chose the 4:10 gear set. :S
