2014 Viewfinder Refrigerator issue

Has anyone with the 2014 24SD had issues with their refrigerator on Auto not switching between gas and electric? When we unplug our camper from electric, the refrigerator seems fine for a couple minutes, but then the red check light comes on and the gas light blinks. I know that we have propane filled in both of our tanks and the tanks appear to be open and full.
  • This is a brand new camper so the fridge had never run on propane before, to my knowledge. I will try lighting the stove burner as suggested then switching the fridge to gas and see what happens. I will also listen for the ticking outside to see if it's having issues igniting. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
  • Light off a stove top burner to establish propane flow/place LP regulator in service........in other words place a demand on it.

Then try the fridge on propane. Fridge propane flame is very small....and doesn't place much of a demand on propane system. So if other propane appliances haven't been used in a while the propane lines will need purged (flow established).....which is done by placing a higher demand on the system
  • Were the tanks opened slowly? The new style safety valves need to be cracked open slowly or else the propane flow is slow. Is the stove getting gas? If the gas is ok it might be having trouble igniting. It will usually attempt 3 times and then trigger the fail light. If you listen outside where the vent cover is do you hear the igniter ticking?

If it is new and has never ignited before it may take some time for the gas to flow and the igniter to light. Also check for debris and cobwebs in the vent.

If it is an Atwood like mine, you need to cycle it about 3 or 4 times by turning it off and restarting it. Once the gas is sufficiently in the system, it should light on propane and stay lit, i.e. no red check light.

That's what my manual indicated and it worked fine for mine.
