There is simply no comparison in towing.
Towing with a diesel is an extremely relaxed enjoyable experience. No sudden down shifts, no noise, just a nice relaxed drive.
Go diesel, the resale will easily get your money back in the end, and there is no substitute for the relaxed towing.
You will get better mileage, relaxed towing, and better resale in the end. They cost a bit more to maintain, but that is easily made up in my opinion by the better mileage, better towing, and resale.
You will never regret a diesel, you will always wonder with the gasser.
