How many hours is on the truck with 9,000 miles? That 6 months thing is to take into account the trucks that idle a lot or run slow back roads a lot. It's not because the oil goes out of date in six months.
I personally change mine once a year or 10,000 miles. I change my fuel filters every time. I also get my fuel filter that is mounted on the rear of the truck at NAPA. The engine filter has still not been released to the aftermarket world.
