I ordered my 2014 Air suspension 2500 in February of 2014 and received one of the very first trucks with factory air suspension in May of 2014. The air suspension has operated operated almost perfectly.
Ram has a software upgrade for the air suspension system that causes the truck to automatically level when you take the load off even when the truck is turned off.
Always have the truck running when putting a large load on the truck like Fifth Wheel or truck camper or the system may go into protection mode when you start up the truck.
I use the alt mode whenever I am loading a camper.
I hauled a truck camper for 11000 miles last summer and the air suspension was GREAT. The truck maintained level everytime I loaded the camper which was about 2000 pounds totally loaded with passengers and gear. I did add a Helwig heavy duty sway bar to replace the OEM sway bar, HUGE, HUGE difference is the handling of the truck, a must have for truck campers.
On another note, and not to bash Fords, but it is the truth. I was working a tractor and filled a friends 6 yard dump trailer with dirt, the trailer was really tongue heavy. We hooked his F250 up to the trailer and as we lowered the tongue jack, the Ford just kept lowering until the dump trailer BOTTOMED OUT ON THE GROUND. I think if the trailer had not hit the ground the Ford would have bottomed out on the axle. The tongue was so overloaded that we struggled to get it off the Ford. I backed my Ram with factory air up to the trailer and lowered it on the truck. As it lowered it started to sag and my friend said see, your truck is no better, but then the air suspension raised the trailer to almost level, within 1.5 inches. No that being said, I do not know at what payload the overload protection kicks in, but it was pretty impressive.
