For a company that makes money by selling vehicles, which is better... selling 100,000 diesel engine trucks a year or selling 50,000 diesel engine trucks a year?
I guess it would depend if that diesel engine cost that company a BILLION DOLLARS IN WARRANTEE WORK.
With the 6.0 it was deny, deny, deny until they took Nav to court and had to admit that the POS cost FMC over a BILLION dollars in warrantee repair work.
With the 6.7 FMC had to go to a single compressor wheel design or keep on ordering train loads of turbo's for the 6.7. They could have just went with a bigger duel wheel compressor turbo, but they dropped it like a hot potato and went with what everybody else has. Why? They had to or keep bleeding warrantee money for the duel wheel.
Much like they dropped Nav's HPOP injector system and went with the common rail system.
Tell you what. You go to this site and go 10 pages deep and see how many blown engines and turbo's people talk about.
