The point of this post is how even a ultralight travel trailer with only people in the cab of a 1500 Ram will set the average camper over the weight rating on the RAM. The other. 1/2 ton trucks are rated at 75% more cargo. At 850 to 950 payload, the only front the Ram can uphold is fuel economy (diesel). Mind you, the Hemi 1500 was 100# greater in payload than the EcoDiesel. As a true truck, for hauling and towing, how can it compete with the others comparably equipped? As I posted before, I was considering downsizing trailer and truck to the Ram EcoDiesel as I drive a lot as a daily driver. I hoped it would be the compromise... Give a little here and there to gain fuel economy for my daily drives. I didn't expect the gas or diesel Ram to be THAT much lighter than its competition.
