You folks are just looking at the wrong EcoDiesel.
That being said.... There is a noticeable disparity between the difference between Ram 1500 GVWR vs the sum of the front and rear Axle ratings and Ford's F150's GVWR vs the sum of the front and rear axle ratings. Especially with the max tow package.
Fact is that the Ram 1500 is just fine for what most people use a 1500 for.
Fact is a LOT of people are going to use the 800 lb payload EcoDiesel to tow big travel trailers. Fact is a lot will install Fifth wheel hitches and tow "light weight" Fivers. Most of them won't realize they are overloaded. Those that figure it out will either upgrade to a 3/4 ton or do nothing and keep on trucking... Especially if "the truck handles it just fine."
Not saying it's right or wrong but it's what's going to happen in the real world.
