I think that was the intent of the thread, and not to be trolling. Seems Dodge needs to be called out on this as people expect it to be a truck with truck capabilities, not a vehicle with subcompact SUV capabilities. BTW, my wifes 2012 4WD Escape has 1030 lbs of payload.
Mike Up, go back to an early post of mine on this thread (wow, never thought it would stretch to 7 pages!) and the fact that Dodge/RAM is the only US truck maker following J2807 across all 3 levels of trucks. The basis for determining ratings is changing over time. No right or wrong here, just reality of it.
In the end, each truck on the dealer's lot has a sticker with a number that has been derived by engineers and lawyers, not a bunch of opinionated RV owners. Take it or leave it. Each of us have the freedom to tow within the numbers or exceed them. Very few will face the ultimate judgement of court and conscience when physics takes over and injury or death results from their actions.
In the end, the buyer's choice. Are you (directed to anyone reading this) a gambling person or not?
