I agree with this part of your quote 100%.
Most of us on this forum understand somewhat about GVWR and payload, but we are only a small part of the truck buying public.
Many years ago, a good customer called me about a great used truck he had bought to haul a slide in camper be had around. This dude had a separate truck for everything :W
He said it didn't seem to work very good.
It was one of the early gas to diesel conversions GM put into halftons about 20 years ago. They had the engine weight of a diesel!
I had him read me the empty weight which is listed on the vehicle registration in Ontario, then find the GVWR sticker on door post.
Once I explained what he was looking at he quickly saw he had about 500lb payload.
His answer to my why buy this truck for this job.
"Well its a DIESEL so I figured it would carry or tow anything"
