For the first oil change have the dealer do it. Oil filter can be really tight for first change.
What is to prevent the shop tech from putting it back on real tight???
Once I do an oil change on a vehicle I don't need a filter wrench as I can remove by hand, as I only turn 3/4 turn after the filter contacts the sealing surface. I have never had a leak.
Its my understanding the robot at cummins installed the filter really tight. I read about all the problems before attempting mine. I let the dealer wrestle with it. Back then (late 2005) Dodge wanted $110 to change my oil. Last year the dealer oil change was $59. Thats officially not worth my time to mess with it. At $59 I'm watching YouTube while the dealer gets dirty.
