LOL I see it didn't take the Ford boys long to get into this thread. Fish, you're slipping a bit at 16 minutes.....
Anyway this is one of the PITA things with the 2013 and up Ram. I pull the intake tube off to remove the filter from the top and I find it's better than the fender opening but still a pain. The hardest part is removing the small (1"?) tube off the intake in order to remove it. The clamp is difficult as is pulling the tube off the barb fitting once the clamp is removed. It's a difficult little area to work in for my big clumsy hands.
Once my warranty is up I'll either modify that small tube to make it easier to remove or install a filter relocation kit.
Overall it's a small problem compared to the enjoyment my family gets out of the truck. It's one of the few things the Ford has over the Ram! :B
Ford has their own share of dumb filter mounting. Ever change the horizontal frame mounted fuel filter on an 03 F-250 6.0? I did mine many times and I would rather change my Ram oil filter any day. I drop mine in a gallon ziplock bag and it comes out the wheel well with no problem. I also agree about the enjoyment we get out of this truck compared to the Ford we had.
