Frank this is what I meant by misinformed.
In my experience the 14-up 4th Gen ram 3500 srw trucks have as high of real world payload as any truck.
In fact I hooked up a trailer to a new f350 dually, dropped it to the bump stops. Unhooked, put a 3500 Ram under it and it didn't squat as much. Close but at least I could get the jack off of the ground to move the trailer.
