That's interesting to hear about the cabin size. One of the reasons I purchased my 13 Ram quad cab was the cabin was more spacious than the 4-door f150, leg room, shoulder room, hip room was all better on the Ram. I'm almost 7 ft tall, so a seat that goes WAY BACK is very important.
I was behind the wheel of an 2016 F150 XL crew cab police truck for several hours this morning, and that cabin is cramped! Partly because of the emergency vehicle equipment, but also the stuff sticking out of the door, the huge plastic door handle was constantly poking me in the side, adn the drink holder / storage bin lower in the door poking at my leg. My legs are still sore from folding up under the dash, as the seat doesn't go nearly as far back as my Ram.
That said, the back seat area on this truck was very spacious, having to crawl in there to work on equipment. The seat took up a lot less room, maybe it's a special fleet vehicle seat but it's not the one piece molded plastic seat like the Explorer squad vehicles have
