In July we took a trip west to Banff/Jasper. This was the first time in big hills and mountains. I was happy with my 2016 6.4 Hemi 2500 until then, so I started thinking about diesels. When coming back across the border in Montana I remembered hearing about this Dennis Dillon place and looked on their website since we wouldn't be too far away heading south. They didn't have much of what I was looking for with the fifth wheel prep so after some googling I found Peterson Ram near Boise also, which had about 8 or 9 Laramies equipped the way I wanted. And they were $13k below sticker (everybody qualifies). Outstanding price but I wasn't able to negotiate enough of a trade-in on the highway with the guy. He was off by at least $3k. And who knows what surprises are hidden in their price. We ended up going to our local dealer where I got $10k off sticker plus top KBB trade-in amount-$5k more than Peterson, for a similarly equipped Laramie.
There are nice used trucks out there, but a new one isn't all that much more if you do your homework and know what a good deal is and know what a reasonable price is for both you and the dealer.
I picked up my new truck a week ago today.
