I used to mod my trucks AFTER warranty was up. Back when it made sense, 98 12V. My truck right out of the box does a GREAT job towing a combined 33-35K so why "F" with the warranty???

Just hope you never leave your geographical area because Chrysler WILL void your warranty!

Even if I could gain 2mpg it would not be worth all the costs and potential costs to ME. Heck I lost close to 2mph towing to Texas and back to SoCal by towing at 75 VS 55-60. The savings was not worth it to me to tow slower.

That was probably an instant reading lie-o-meter. However it is not uncommon to see a 2-3 mpg gain in hand calculated mileage from deleting or at least a 1-2 mpg gain from emissions intact tune that shuts off the EGR. This amount may not be the same for all diesel makes, but it is common have an increase in mpg. I know my friends with Powerstrokes will at least get 1-2 mpg from deleting which is why my brother was about to delete his 2012 until he started having fuel issues on top of his emission issues so he is just going to get rid of it and go back to a Cummins.

As far as warranty goes, three out of the five vehicles that I have tuned and modified before the factory warranty was up were Cummins engines. Not once did I ever need the factory warranty and the tuning generally paid for itself with a year or two from the mileage gain on the diesels. It is a gamble, but I feel safer taking that gamble with a Cummins with my personal experiences with them. My tune is going to pay for itself in a few thousand miles and another 10k miles after that my engine warranty will be up. So it is all money in my pocket from then on out for me.
