- edatlantaExplorerMaybe the designers have run out of ideas so they start adding holes?
- SouthpawHDExplorerThe 2016 1/2 tons seem to have that (based on pics), but they aren't real vents according to what I've read. I would suspect that that this design would be used on future HD trucks.
- ksssExplorerThe 2017 HD GM trucks are getting the next gen Duramax and new frames. 2016 HD will be a short model year. The 16 HD's wont show until Nov. or so and the new HD will be here late Summer. So I was told.
- downtheroadExplorerSaw this, but I don't think it's an HD or a Duramax.
- N-TroubleExplorerCorrect an early 2017 model is when the new post-LML Duramax is suppose to hit the market. I haven't heard anything in regards to frame changes. 2011 brought an all new improved chassis so I am doubting any major changes in this area for the next gen. We'll see...
Rumor is 8-speed Allison with increased HP/TQ numbers on the motor and changes likely coming in the emissions system. Hood vents that I have seen are only on the HD line but not sure at this point if anyone knows if its cooling or air intake related. My guess would be some kind of active air intake for the Dmax similar to what Ram started offering a year or two ago. Will be interesting to see if GM sticks with the CP4 "grenade" pump on these trucks. - N-TroubleExplorer

2016 GM 1/2 ton twins are both getting a front end facelifts. Remains to be seen how these changes will carry over to the HD line. - ksssExplorerI had not heard the frame redo until a week ago or so which came from the commercial sales manager here. I think if they are going to need to if they plan on challenging Ford at the 32K pound tow rating.

Have been noticing more photos of 2500 duramax trucks and the hoods seem to be camouflaged with more venting. Could this be from a next Gen duramax ??
That's the rumor on the street... Having said that GM is keeping this project very tight lipped.
BTW... Not sure GM really needs another new frame, but they do need to relocate that DEF tank.- ksssExplorerYea I would like to see the DEF tank moved. I don't think it is the issue that some like to make it to be, but never the less, it is perceived to be an issue by many, so they should move it for no other reason than to shut people up about it. I filled mine for the first time since I bought the pickup a couple weeks ago. I filled it at a truck stop. I don't mind the under the hood fill location. That urea is kind interesting stuff when it dries. Kinda looks like cement. No wonder it takes out fuel systems.
