About all that can be said has been said but I will give my 2 cents worth. In 2012 we sold our motorhome and ordered the fifth wheel you see in my signature and a 2012 GMC 3500 srw standard (short bed). I have been doing this for a long time and went into it knowing I would be close to the truck's limit. I just did not want a dually for my daily driver. After we got the rig I weighed it fully loaded for a month long trip out west. The weights were 3000 lbs hitch weight and 12,500 on the axles. I was barely below the limit on the trucks carrying capacity but fine on the total weight.
On our first trip we noticed a lot of bouncing, chucking, bucking, whatever you call it, and it wasn't comfortable, especially for the wife. There were actually a few times I thought I was going to lose control, especially coming over a bridge on I25 near Denver. I added a set of Air Lift air bags which helped some but we still had a lot of bucking on the rougher roads. I finally gave up and ordered the dually. All my problems disappeared. For good measure I have since gotten a Trailer Saver BD3 air ride hitch and put Center Point air suspension on the Winslow. Smooth as it can be now.
I still don't like driving a dually for my personal vehicle but I have adjusted. Being retired it is really not that big a deal.
