2016/2017 F250 6.2 Gasser MPG

I've searched and can't find an answer so I thought I'd post. Looking at ditching our 2012 F150 because of quality issues. Hubby want's to be able to plow so we are looking at new F250s. What is a reasonable expectation for mpg (other than cr@ppy!), non-towing. Absolutely love the F150 but the last straw was having to replace the transmission wiring harness at 45K miles. This is the 3rd or 4th major issue we've had. Will say Ford and the dealer are standing fast behind their product. They didn't even make us pay the $100 EW deductible on this one.

  • 2016 F250 6.2 with 4.30 gears. I average 12-14 non towing, 9 towing the fifth wheel.
The wife gets 10. She can't keep her foot out of it. Says she loves the Growl. Great engine - get the 5 star tune
  • I have a 2017, 4x4 with the 3.73 rear end. Right now I'm seeing 13.5 on the screen with half tank running about 100 miles highway, 50 miles around town. ATM I have 600 miles on the truck. When running the highway I usually am running 70-80 mph. Can't complain considering my 04 f150 2wd with the 5.4 and 3.55 axle got about 14-14.5 with the same style driving. I expect that number to increase a little after some more miles get on the truck. From what I was reading the 4.30 rear axle isn't much worse on mileage, maybe a little better around town since the lower gears help with low speed accel. I had planned to order the 4.30 but found a great deal on the dealer lot.
  • Buddy at work just bought a 2017 f350 with the 6.2 and is really happy and surprised with the mileage.
  • My 2012 I had "averaged" 12.5-13 with 3:73's. The new ones "2017" are supposed to do better now that they have a trans specifically for the gas 6.2 and tuned for it. Plus they are awesome looking trucks! If you are serious about it, Id order one with the 4:30 rear end though. Everything I read says this is a better ratio for the 6.2 and really brings out its full potential. Only thing that suffers is highway mileage which only drops 1-2 mpg, but daily round town mileage actually improves some as the truck isn't lugging as much. Again, only what I've read though. Let us know what you decide! I love new trucks! Lol
  • Mine 8.5 towing a 25' Work and Play @ 65 mph from Jacksonville, Fl to Charleston SC. It gets about 12-12.5 non towing on the same trip but at 75 mph.
  • My 2016 gets 16 highway, 11.5 regular driving and 8.5 towing.
  • My 13 will average 16 on the hi-way at 65-70. Not bad in town with light foot, maybe 13, towing my rig 8-10 with varying terrain/wind.

  • 10.5 day in and day out in the city. 15 on the highway at 70 if I'm gentle with it.
