2017 Detroit North American International Auto Show

So I was on the autoshow floor today. I went searching for payload information.

New Honda Ridgeline - 1323 lbs
Canyon Crew Cab Longbox Duramax - 1313 lbs
Nissan Titan XD Cummins - 1377 and 1598 lbs
Toyota Tacoma - 1000 lbs
2017 Superduty - No tire sticker

They were focusing on the 7 cameras for the Superduty. They have spots marked to stand on and will use your phone to take a selfie of you on the inside screen. What a great marketing technique. The tailgate will lower automatically. However, I almost needed both hands to close. I know that would not be good in my family.

The layout is all new for the show. Interesting setup. I could not get close to the new Chrysler Pacifica minivan. There are some wonderful vehicles out there!

I wish they would focus on reliability instead of gadgets. I Don't need 7 cameras but would like a Diesel motor that would go 350k miles without needing replaced.

I guess I'm in the minority.

Is this a bait and hook moment?
    Nope, I'm a Ford owner.
  • I didn't know the Canyon had that much capacity. That makes me even more interested as I love the idea of a little diesel...
I looked at one on the dealer lot when I bought my new truck and they look real nice- and there are a ton of aftermarket goodies out for them already!

Thought Honda was doing away w/ the Ridgeline?

Production has already started at the Lincoln, AL plant. I believe it will hit the market this spring. I've seen a couple driving around that are covered up so really can't see much but it does look more like a pick up than the old one. If I can close enough to one I'll get some pictures.

  • The Pacifica hybrid is really interesting. I think I read it had a 30 mile electric range which would really cut down on gas usage in an around town usage situation.
