- mich800ExplorerWhatever it is you can hear the turbo singing. Unless that what the vehicle filming.
- ShinerBockExplorerI remember reading an article a few years ago on how Ford, Delphi, and a few other makes were working on a GDCI engine. With the Ecoboost badge on the truck in the video makes me wonder if the next generation Ecoboost(or the generation after that) could be GDCI.
- Bionic_ManExplorerI have seen this reported in a couple other areas as well.
That truck actually sounds a little loud for a modern diesel, but it sure doesn't sound like a gasser.
I know there is a lot of love for the EcoBoost engines, but they do not make enough of a difference in MPG with more stringent CAFE standards on the way. Ford is ahead of the game shedding weight with the aluminum F150, if they add a small diesel and a 10 speed transmission, they would be the category leader in MPG. - TerryallanExplorer II

I wonder if the guy who's videoing has a diesel car? It may just be his car, but could be wrong. Regardless I would not be surprised to see Ford put a diesel in the F150. That would be a good truck with additional payload.
I would think putting a Diesel in would lower the pay load unless the really beef up the suspension. Diesels are really heavy. they eat up a lot of payload, Even on 250, 2500, and 3500s. Which is why "some 2500 diesels have no more payload than a 1500 gas. - kw_00ExplorerI wonder if the guy who's videoing has a diesel car? It may just be his car, but could be wrong. It's a Ford. Maybe it's low on oil because it leaked out and just sounds like a diesel. :B
That's funny. I don't care what anyone says. - brulazExplorerMore info/speculation.
And a good comparison with the Range Rover Sport.
Wonder if it will end up in a HD Payload truck?
That would be very useful for those of us who don't need/want a high HP engine.
But it's gotta have an Exhaust Brake (unlike the Titan XD and EcoDiesel). - mich800Explorer

I agree it sounds like a diesel,, but the exhaust pipe is small for a diesel.
For a small diesel? Have you seen the exhaust on the ecodiesel and other diesel cars? They don't need a 4" exhaust.
