So I drove 2 F-250 last evening. Both 6.7l Lariat 4x4 crew cabs, one with FX4 and a number of options (including adaptive steering), one w/o the FX4 or adaptive steering. Payloads were only 2160 and 2340 lbs respectively - not very high really. That diesel engine is heavy. Far preferred the ride of the non-FX4 - it was way less jittery. Didn't notice much difference in steering between the two. Both were quiet and comfortable. I'm sure they are fine tow vehicles, but $65k and only 2300 lbs payload???? So much for upgrading to a bigger trailer later. Tough to find a decent 5th wheel and stay under 2k pin weight.
I can get the F-150HD Lariat for $10k less and get about the same payload. Think my decision is made.
