I'm only pointing out that people who look at 2 and 3 series trucks and are surprised by the small payload are being mislead. Those trucks and their axle capacities are under-rated by the manufacturers for whatever reasons. Theyre MUCH more capable than 1 series, except for the 1500HD Chevy made that was literally a 2500 with 1500 emblems.
Not everyone needs that.
The reason is simple. Class 2 trucks, especially diesels, have artificially low payload ratings because the class max GVWR is 10k lbs. Good example is my truck with a payload rating around 2200 or 2300 lbs based on the 10k lb GVWR, but I've got 12,500 lbs of combined axle rating.
The payload and axle figures are a lot closer to one another on class 3 trucks because they aren't constrained to a max 10k lb GVWR.
