I am telling you about my experience at the local Ford dealer. They had no long bed F-150s, and said "it might be possilbe to order one." The prices of 150s and 250 diesels were about the same.
What local dealer is that? Despite being a GM guy, if I can get out the door with an F250 6.7 for the same price as an F-150 with the same trim levels I'll fly out to Nevada this week and buy one. Sounds like a ghost story to me.
Edited for punkuation and speeling.
Notice he said a DEALER said it MIGHT be possible. Well, that makes it true!! It frequently pops up on this forum how you can buy a F250 diesel for the same price as an F150. My Mother told me if you’re going to tell a fib you have to make it believable. Well it just isn’t believable.
The last time I went on Ford's build and price program it was about $1000 more for a comparable equipped F250 over the F150. Comparably equipped means no diesel in one but not the other. The main reason I didn't go for the F250 gas was that the 3.5EB has more power below 5,000rpm (where I live) and a lot better fuel economy than the 6.2 gas engine in the F250. So far my 150 hasn't let me down but then it is only 18 months old, still practically new.
Also, my dealer doesn't stock long bed 150's either so that put me in a special order or buy from a different dealer situation. Once I made that clear to the sales manager it was real easy to order exactly what I wanted, or thought that I did. If I was doing it over I would probably get the power running boards.
