- JIMNLINExplorer IIIInteresting..... now their finally testing these size trucks at the GCW numbers commerce have been pulling at for years.
The F450 4x4 pickup in the past wasn't that popular with haulers as it was so heavy and ate up payload numbers. However it has remained popular with RV folks.
I'm not a fan of making much ado about one several minuet run up a hill but the truck looks like it should be popular with recreational trailer owners.... of all types. - TravlingmanExplorer III liked the adaptive cruise control. The way it controlled the weight coming down was impressive.
- alboyExplorer4700 LB PAYLOAD??
- Sinton4616ExplorerWow. That thing is a beast!
- transamz9ExplorerMakes no sense. 4,700# payload. Ford is shooting themselves in the foot with this truck trying to compete in towing numbers with the other two 3500's. I have a SRW 3500 on the rack at work up fitting it that has 4300# payload. Yes it is 4x4, crew cab, long bed, diesel, SRW.
- Wow.... Very impressive and the first truck to pull 30k lbs in this test.

It's the first truck FLT has put 30k behind it. They didn't have a trailer heavy enough to do it when testing the Ram. Impressive, yes but the first time 30,000 has been pulled up that mountain behind a pick up? I doubt it. transamz9 wrote:

That's why I said "30k lbs in this test".- ShinerBockExplorerThe 4,700 lb payload is due to the class 3 regulation of a max GVWR of 14k lbs, nothing more. Ford basically derated the trucks payload so it can fit into the class 3 and you don't have to have a special licence to drive it. I have no doubts that that truck can handle way more than that.
- CampingN_C_ExplorerThese test they do are cool and all but I'd really like to see some testing done with 5th wheels, or something similar to replicate the wind resistance of a camper.
Pulling a flat bed of bricks aint quite the same, but still impressive.
