I had to go back and look at that. What is that hitch? I don't think I have ever seen that. I assume maybe an over engineered way to adjust tilt?
It works on the same concept as a rubber torsion trailer axle to dampen up and down movement of the tongue. As smooth as our TT tows, I see no need for any such thing. A properly loaded trailer may porpoise a little, but other than an empty U-Haul trailer on a rough road, I've never experienced any up and down jarring motion. A slimmer wallet is probably easier on the back though.
