2017 GMC Sierra with 6.2 engine and 8 speed trans

Just curious how this combination tows. Mine is 4X4 with 3.23 gears.
Thinking about towing a 2020 Flagstaff model 26FKBS GVWR on the trailer is about 8900 lbs. and truck tow rating is 9100 UVW on the trailer is about 6300 and we don't tend to take a lot with us Wondering how the trans shifts and how the factory brake controller works

I have a 2016 Sierra 6.2, 3.42 gears, 8 sp 4x4 with max tow pkg, 1834 lb payload. went cross country 7300 + mile in 2016. Been through Rockies and frequent the Smokies. TT weight at 7000 lbs prox loaded. Tranny works just fine just Use tow haul and cruise and the tranny does a lot of the work for you. Brake controller works great once you dial it in. Every truck/TT combo is different...follow manual on Brake Controller for the best set up for your combo.
  • I can only speak to the brake controller, I like it. Works well, shows if you have a connection problem, easy to change on the fly as it is easy to reach. It looks to me like your trailer is exactly what that truck was designed to handle.
  • I tow that much with a 5.3/6speed/3.42s, through the mountains. The 6.2 will do fine.
Wdh will negate any rvnet payload "rules" you might break.
  • The 6.2 is more than capable, even with the 3.23 gears. I'd just becareful with overloading the Sierra due to hitch weight of front kitchens.
