The E450 is still being produced and there is no projected discontinuation. They have added the 6-speed TorqueShift and also now have the 6.2L v8 as the standard motor, but the V10 us optional and nets an extra 5,000 pounds towing capacity.
These Ford/Ram 550/5500 chassis are basically replacing the old Topkick/Kodiak 5500 chassis, which went under coaches over 32'. That chassis had a higher cab so it worked a little better for visibility in the coach and shorter overall length, but IMO didn't drive as well as the Ford and Ram options.
