I HATED the redesign, starting with the 1997 F-150. I had a 95 F-150 and LOVED that boxy body style. The new curvy design made me want to throw up in my mouth. Those two huge horizontal pieces of chromed plastic looked horrible and the headlights under the marker lights looked ridiculous.

Now I like the look of the newer body style, but I still can't get over the marker lights above the headlights. These new trucks are cool looking... but I still love my Ram's lines.

I don't know; I'm sure these are beautiful trucks to drive with great features but the looks are really going to have to grow on me. I loved the new 1999 Super Duty the first time I saw it, but not this one.

Was just the opposite on the 1999 Superduty, thought it was the ugliest truck to date, but I guess it grew on me after 16 years of ownership :) A leveling kit ,and a slightly larger tire then the 275/16, and the truck actually started looking pretty good.

Now this new Ram, I'm still working on liking the looks, but what a towing machine. Which is why I bought it

Yes I would not mind going back to Ford with the new body style, one of the big reasons I went with the Ram . Couldn't see buying the same body style after having one for 16 years. The 99 was a great truck, if not for the power, I would still have it. Towing heavy with a 7.3 got tiresome.

Well you asked, so how about 600# difference in the GVW with the Ram on top.

How did that translate to payload? I thought the '17 Ford would be closer in specs to the Ram. But I have not compared anything side by side. And I am not in the market for a new vehicle anytime soon so this is just interesting conversation for me.

The upgraded box frame is a major step forward to bring it in line with the GM and Ram. I'm sure this feels like a whole different truck with that upgrade alone. The previous generation is a good truck too but the platform really made it feel dated.

I hope to not be in the market for a new truck for many years. When the time comes I'll do as I always do and will give every brand a fresh look. Brand loyalty is foolish, imo.

RAM has redesigned HDs in 2019 and I believe GM also. As far as the new SD; Hype Cycle. Ford's pricing and the Ford dealers in my area (arrogant because their sales are strong) take the fun out of new Ford truck shopping.

I'm with others in this thread, forget the wiz-bang stuff and give me reliability. We have gotten to the point where many of these gee-wiz options have intermittent issues that dealers just can't fix. What good is the gee-wiz if it doesn't work all the time and can't be fixed.

I feel the same for our 05. Hitting the road the 1st. Hope we make it. Chevman.

Might be a great truck, but I'd be wary of the first year of any new model or drivetrain, whether Ford, Chevy, or Ram. $50-80k is too much money to spend for the privilege of being a beta tester. Bit my Dad hard. I didn't learn, and made the same mistake, although my experience was only annoying, not expensive like his.
