That's the new Ranger? Man I'm liking the ! out of that. Dark metallic red and we're ready to go. Factory roof rack rails are handy from time to time as well. :B
That's only one part of the issue... Another is that the entire segment is a relatively small percentage of the total truck market. It's just not cost-effective any more, especially at the volumes (or lack thereof) Ford had with the outgoing product.
The other thing to note is that the Global Ranger isn't your old Ranger with a new skin... It's a beefy chassis with a heavy duty Dana-44 rear axle under it to carry the loads. I've seen some (from about 10 years ago) that were warranty issues, but they all turned out to be supplier issues (It always helps if the supplier fills the diff with gear lube before shipping it to the assembly plant!)
