2018 F350

I have a 2018 F350 diesel tow vehicle. Since it was brand new in March I have put 13K miles on it. Every 400-500 miles when I stop I can smell a little bit of oil burning. There is no noticeable oil usage, just the smell. I have had it in to the dealer once for this and they found nothing. I been over the engine and exhaust from top to bottom and have never found any oil leakage.

Any suggestion?
  • From what every body has said here I am going with the regen answer. It makes since. Over all I am completely satisfied with the F350.
  • It it's a raw fuel odor that smells like a jet plane, then it's in a regen cycle. Run it in a lower gear to keep the RPMs up so the exhaust heats up and it will finish the cycle and go away.
  • Have the dealer enable the “Exhaust Filter Percent Full” screen on your dash. That way you will know when it’s about to regen, when it starts, and how long the regen cycle lasts. On the 2016 models, the technician had to plug in his laptop, and enable an option that (if I remember right) was called “Manual Exhaust Filter Cleaning”, but it DOESN’T actually let you initiate a manual regen. It only enables a screen that shows you the soot load in the DPF.
