2018 Ram w/Hood Scoop

Looks like drittal was right. Ram appears to be adding a hood scoop to increase power output for 2018. The grill shape looks like it may resemble that of the 1500.

  • The SRT style grill would be more elegant IMHO. More like this:

If the Denso doesn't have the reputation of the CP4, then I agree fully!!!

  • I don't see an end in sight.

Ram was able to go from 850 to 900 ftlbs just by tune. Get more air packed into the cylinders by Ram air and/or bigger turbo.

Ford jumped from to 925 with tune and bigger turbo and likely have room to grow.

I don't know what GM did, but I'm pretty sure they will have room to grow.

Right now, the limiting factors for all will be everything behind the motor. Nobody is really quite certain of the Aisin capability, just guess-timates. Ford trans capacity is well known. We all thought the Alison was max'd with the last gen duramax, but here it is again. Was it beefed up, or just more torque management?

I personally think this has gone to silly levels. A lighter diesel in the 550-600TQ range in a 250/2500 would be more than enough for the average RV'er, but 'MURICA!!!!
