2020 Chevy 2500HD Gas

Idk if Chevy owns the gasser market. Don’t care to look it up, but there are a zillion PWFs with 6.2s out there. (Plain White Fords). Seems to be the rig of choice for construction companies and government agencies.
6.0/4.10/6speed Still does not tow as well as the competition though in my actual experience over the last 10 years or so.
Being in the career I am, I have the somewhat unique experience of being around, driving or being assigned MANY different light trucks in the western states and mountains, mostly gassers and after a couple recent years of mostly Chevys, 08-18 models, while they are good reliable trucks, they give up a bit of towing power to the 6.2 Fords. Haven’t really hooked up a 6.4 Ram to a big load, but save for the wonky lower gear splits, I’d expect the Hemi to out pull the other 2 at speed.

It's probably do to trying to keep costs down. In the HD segment I believe GM dominates the gas market.

I'd guess its more about the 6L80 being so dependable, which is what commercial buyers want. The only real reason for 8 or 10 speeds is to try and squeeze a few fractions more mpg out of a combination, which is at the bottom of the list for most commercial buyers. Hopefully the new engine will be as bulletproof as the 6.0, which is the reason it was offered for how many years?

The RV towing market is minuscule comparatively and not the focus.

This is what I'm hoping for. I'm not in the market right now, but will be in a couple of years and I'd love to see a 10 spd.

You can tell the difference on a long pull for sure. The standard six speed trans was a blessing but it is really good with the 4.10.
