The Allison name carries a lot of water. The name has a reputation for durability and has been used in connection with the Duramax name since 2001. They stopped putting it on a badge on the actual pickup in 2015. Clearly they still want to use the name in advertisements. How much of that tranny is actually "Allison" I have no idea. I am sure there is someone in the factory that is building the 10 speed that may have some insight.
The Allison badge is on my 2018 GMC 2500HD Denali. I am glad I have one with the "real" Allison 1000 series that was developed within Allison and is sold by Allison.
I have a GM designed 8L90 in my 2016 Corvette Z06 and although mine hasn't had the torque converter shudder issue I am sure it is only a matter of time and GM is on the third magic fluid since this transmission was released in 2015. I wouldn't want to be the test bed for the new 10 speed.
I stand corrected. I thought the Allison name was off the name plate. I should have looked out the window before typing. I didn't remember seeing it. I would not worry about the 10 speed not performing and I will very likely put my money where my mouth is.
