Yep, always find it funny when people go on about the longevity of diesel engines.
Maybe if you are running the carney circuit putting 50k miles per year on a truck towing heavy but not many RVers will get anywhere close to wearing an engine out.
50yrs ago, when gas engines were good for maybe 100k miles, a diesel held a durability advantage but modern diesel engines are complex beasts with plenty of ancillary parts that can fail.
And double the torque of a gas motor. It's all in what you want or need.
I always find it funny when folks who have gassers try to talk schitt about diesels! LOL
If you are towing heavy and need the extra tow rating, sure get a diesel but that wasn't the point.
People go on and on about the longevity of diesel engines and in the modern world, a vehicle typically wears out before the engine does (gas or diesel).
