"I have not pre-filled the filter on the couple of times I changed the oil but could use this plug to pre-fill and get it into place without a mess too."
Next time PLEASE attempt to unscrew the cap once the filter is dropped thru the hole. Then try to lift the filter into place and screw it on without spilling.
I am saying put one quart into the filter.
