Helped my old man install new injectors and sleeves on his 2003 7.3L today. And by help I mean I did 95% of the work. Man, the stuff I had to remove just to get to the valve covers. There was hardly any room on either side of the engine and the back two injectors were a pain in the arse getting the sleeves out. I can see why taking the cab off is standard practice on major repairs.
To be fair though, the back two injectors on the Cummins is a pain as well, however, I don't have to take a bunch of stuff off just to get the valve covers. It would suck if we messed up and had to take all that stuff back off again since we have to put it all back on just to turn it over to verify the job was done correctly. Luckily we(I) got his 7.3l back on the road without a hitch.
