Next time PLEASE attempt to unscrew the cap once the filter is dropped thru the hole. Then try to lift the filter into place and screw it on without spilling.
I am saying put one quart into the filter.

The from the top method is free, simple and not a drop will be spilled.
You may be correct but I am thinking if I can get the full filter out with the plug without spilling then I should be able to get the new one back in without spilling. I will need to give it a try and see if I make a mess.
