24-28' Bunkhouse... Any love/hate opinions??

I'm in a 21ft bunkhouse hybrid. No slide out and sleeps 6 adults easily.

Thought our experience might help someone. We own the KZ S242 bunkhouse model, and it's just DH and I. Our family is expanding, and we hope to take the grandchildren camping. But you know what? If NOBODY comes camping with us, we'll enjoy that trailer. DH uses the bunkhouse area as his personal storage and dressing room haha. We've looked at so many floor plans at rv shows and this one still suits us. We're not ones to trade in frequently, so resale value is not as important to us.

We have a 28' bunkhouse. 280QBS.
We can fit onto a 30' site, which I find invaluable b/c sometimes we go to places with limited availability and we have more options since we're not limited to the 35' sites. The lake sites in particular are usually short and that's where we like to be.

The master bed touches the wall at the foot, and my husband is 6'3" and grumbles about that, but I can't imagine getting anything longer. Can't imagine anything shorter either. We can just squeeze everything we need into that space.

We've been in a 28' BH with no slides since 2000 - love it with or without kids. Like others who've replied to this post, we find that size range gives us a greater range of sites in most CGs. Our master bedroom is also separated by a curtain rather than a a wall/pocket doors. That, along with a 101" width and light colored interior decor give the unit an open feeling. Our kids are grown now (one is gone and one will be leaving in just over 4 months). We have always found uses for the empty bunks!!

I think the only change we'd make if we were to do it over again is to find a model that has the bunks open the entire length. It can we awkward for a nearly 6-foot teen to get in to one of the "cave" bunks!

We just purchased out first trailer a 28' Summerland Bunk house for us, a perfect size for family of 4 plus a tag alongs.

We had a Jayco 26BH, which had no slides. It was tough with 3 kids in the back (with a single bunk over a double bunk, so 2 kids had to share), and us in the front with 2 small dogs. In the morning all the kids wanted to come forward to eat, I wanted to go aft to use the bathroom, and my wife wanted to make coffee... so we went with something a little bigger. A slide out would have made a huge difference, but now we also like that each kid gets their own bed. We really love our outside kitchen too. We now have a Sprinter 311 BHS, which is a little big, but it works for us.

We also have the KZ S242 with a slide out and double over double bunks. It seems very roomy and the kids have plenty of room with each having their own full size bunk. Travel length is 26'9" and I am able to find many campsites that this will fit in.

We love the layout of our older 25' KZ Sportsmen. It has a seperate room in the front with double bunks and has plenty of storage in there for all the kids stuff.

Personally, I'd be reluctant to downsize yet if you really like the TT you have. Ever new rig purchase is an opportunity for new problems at added costs.

We went the bunkhouse way for our grandkids and found they didn't go as often as we wished. Plus being retired, we disliked having to wait for them to get out of school before leaving.

If you currently have a slide in your rig - be sure to get one in any new rig you get. You won't like not having one.

I agree with others and just keep what you have. Your kids might want to bring friends along. When kids are gone get what Mom and Dad want. You will take a financial hit if you trade.
