At least GM went back to a square tube receiver instead of the round tube junk they put on the GMT800s.
I tow our Sunset Creek with a '00 Yukon XL 2500, and I'm close if not over the TW rating of the factory receiver. A Reese or Curt V5 hitch is on the Christmas list.
The 6.0 is fine, I helped it out quite a bit with a tune. I wanted the 8.1, but couldn't justify 10 MPG for my wife's DD. She averages 14 mpg empty and I usually see 8 pulling the camper. Don't be afraid to let that 6.0 sing! Ours sees 3500 rpm regularly and several times I have just buried the pedal and held it to maintain speed on a grade. Yes, weight is an issue but you will be fighting the huge frontal area on your trailer more than the weight once you get rolling.
For reference our Sunset Creek has a dry weight of 6615 lbs, dry hitch weight of 902 lbs and a GVWR of 10k lbs. So by the time I add the weight of the WD hitch head I am toeing the line of the factory receiver TW rating. Loaded up for a trip I'm sure we are closer to 7500 lbs. Once the hitch is beefed up I will be good to go.
