twxsby, I think that is a good idea. My TW is around 800 pounds depending on trip and I have towed short distances without WD. The vehicle is stout and clearly can handle more weight. If you crawl uunder the receiver you will notice the weaknesses that I think can easily be reinforced by an experienced welder with a compromise in crumple zone and a few hundred $. I have already been in contact with CanAm RV should I pull the trigger.
As mentioned, the 6.0L seems a little weak, but the 6-spd really helps keep the engine in its powerband, which is noticeably in the 3000-5500rpm range. It should cruise comfortably in 5th gear at 2200rpm on flat ground, 4th gear 2800-3000 into winds and hold 55mph in 3rd gear at 4000rpm for most hills. Use tow/haul trans mode. Owners with a Black Bear tune are extremely satisfied. Durability of the 6.0 with any trans offered has been outstanding over 200k+ miles.
