OK I'm going to bite on this worm. I have an older Dodge Dually 4x4. It has a Dana 60 front end. I have had it since 2003 and yes it has less than a 100k miles LOL. I live here in the Northwest and used it almost every weekend carrying an Arctic fox 1150 (5000 lbs). This is what I can tell you about 4x4 from my personal experience. The front works well in slippery travel in a level straight line using HT tires...but wait there is more. If you are pitched at an angle in a situation as say snow with a load like a TC of this weight....the front end is useless. It was said in previous posts...what is truly a 4x4? Well this truck has a limited slip rear Dana 80. I'm not going to go to deep but if you want a true 4x4...it requires a locker kit for that front end. There are many kits and if you really are serious about front end traction install a locker so both front tires are pulling at the same time...when you really need it.
