My last several trucks have been 2wd. Has worked out perfect for us.
I had some 4x4 trucks and took them off-road down trails hunting etc. I almost never put them in 4x4. Just no need. I did realize that nice 4x4’s get lots of scratches and scuffs when used off road down trails in my youth.
Simple tow rope and a wave down to a friend or neighbor would resolve those few times I get stuck. (Literally once in my gasser dually, on grass, with my front tires on pavement. )
But most of the time, no problem.
I did get one of my Lincoln Town Cars stuck on grass. Had to get a helping hand there too. So that’s two stucks.
Now I’m not saying I will never own a 4x4 again. Quite the contrary. For me 4x4 is just an option the truck may have..like heated seats. That is literally how much consideration I give the 4x4 vs 4x2 debate.
Now for my trail riding vehicle. That’s a different story. But I am not taking my nice 20-50k truck down a trail to get it all scratched up again. I’ll use my nice warm truck to pull a tandem trailer with a few side by sides on it down to the hunting grounds. Much more suitable for 4Wheelin’
Thanks!
