What year did GM go to IFS? 1988 I believe?
Purchased new with IFS I have had a 93 K1500 (167000), 1997 K1500 (125000), 2000 Silverado (268000), 2007 Silverado 2500HD (110000), 2013 Silverado 2500HD (28000) and 2015 GMC SIERRA 2500HD currently with about 24000 on the ticker. That's almost 3/4 of a million miles in the land of road salt. On the 2000 a wheel bearing had to be replaced early under warranty, and I seem to remember tie rod ends on it also @ 200K, but I have never had any other problem on all of those trucks relating to IFS. And thats only the full size, also had a 91 Sonoma and 95 S-10 in that mix also with IFS.
Rocky Ridge, Sherrod, Tuscany and the like lift tens of thousands of GM trucks, and dealers sell the hell out of them.
Personally I have no need for a lifted truck and from my experiences most that have them have no real need either other than supporting their ego.
