I am not talking about RV since they are exempt in just about every state. I am referring to non-recreational trailer being towed by a current DRW pickup.
From what it was explained to me by our DPS. It doesn't matter if it is being used for commercial purposes or not to meet the definition of a CMV. What matters is if it exceeds the weight limits or ratings. Just as an 18 wheeler driver would still need a CDL if he drove a Peterbilt for non-commercial(or non-recreational) use because it exceeds the 26k GVWR, so would a pickup truck with a GCWR higher than 26k while towing a 10k trailer.
