The portable units such as the EMS-PT30X(50X) are not considered by Progressive to be field serviceable, only the hard wire series (which I own) is field serviceable - open a portable version and you'll instantly void the warranty.
That's why the company insists any portable unit be returned for repair or replacement whereas with a hard wire version they will mail you the parts required to fix it yourself.
