Everyone seems to be talking about power not handling.I am shopping for a 1 ton pickup to haul a overhead camper and am totally surprised at all the "low payload" 1 tons out there.Some less than my F-150 and a lot less than my sons 2500HD!Very surprising and an eye opener making a person realize how soft some, so called 3/4 and 1-tons really are compared to some heavy duty, so called 1/2 tons.
Power,heck..The big blocks of old like the mighty 460 and 454 are anemic to modern engines like even the 5.4 or 6.0 in Horse Power but they were the power houses of old RVing drawing praise from most for there power pulling.Now there laughed at,yet scores of large motorhomes have them installed,again with praise for there power..
Is a 3/4 ton a good dedicated tow rig..Yes it is..Is a HD 1/2 ton a good dedicated tow rig for some..Yes it is...Is a 1-ton a good dedicated tow rig for some..Sure,why not...
