Handling and traction are reasons for drw. If you tow a sizeable boat it helps a lot to get it off a slimy launch ramp but you really need four wheel drive too.
Soft or muddy campgrounds dualie makes a big difference expecially if you have four wheel drive.
I agree possibly with the nail thing but you are probably about twice as likely to pick up a nail also. Right? Even more likely for sidewall damage with the tires throwing road trash between them. Also I have to disagree about traction on a boat ramp, mud or wet grass. I think a SRW does better in all those circumstances. All though you may need 4 wheel drive with either a srw or drw in any of those conditions, if it is slick enough. JMHO
I have nothing against drw by the way. They are the right tool for the job many times. I have owned one myself.
