3/4 vs 1 ton .
3/4 ton duely vs 1 ton srw, what are the pros and cons of each.I know you can't ever too much truck but.in this case the truck will also be the daily driver.yes we are looking at a diesel,.5th wheel max weight is 17k at most.thanks

- I found that when I test drove the duelly that it was very stiff in the rear for daily driving, so I opted for the SRW option. It is doing great but I am only pulling 15,500lb.
- 1 ton minimum. Dually 1 ton suggested.

x2- I assume you are confused as all duallies are 1ton (without getting into medium or heavy duty trucks).
At 17k, you are probably beyond the weight ratings of a 3/4 ton. Check all the weight ratings of the truck vs the trailer but for 5th wheels, it's usually the pin weight that limits the truck. You are probably looking at a pin weight on the order of 3500lbs plus a couple hundred for the hitch and anything else you haul (if the 17k is empty weight add in another 500lbs to the pin weight to account for loading it up with stuff).
A 1ton SRW might work but probably into 1ton dually range. - 5th wheel---17K
